Last September 6, 2023 marked the culmination of the first run of HABI, a collaboration between the University of the Philippines Visayas Office of Continuing Education and Pahinungod (UPV-OCEP) and Pitch Strategies & Consultancy, Inc., a local boutique marketing consultancy firm based in Iloilo City. 

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), through the BANTALA: UPV Media Excellence Awards, introduced the Western Visayas Journalists’ Guide to the media, including bloggers, based in the region, at a press conference held at the UPV, Iloilo City campus, on Sept. 4. 

A three-day training-workshop on eDNA metabarcoding was organized by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension and Philippine Genome Center Visayas in collaboration with Ankara University, Turkey last August 30 to September 1, 2023 at the PGC Visayas Laboratories, UPV Regional Research Center Building, UPV Miagao Campus. 

The University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) held its Opening Exercises to usher in the Academic Year 2023-2024, on Sept. 4, at the UP Visayas (UPV) Auditorium, Iloilo City campus.

Remaining steadfast in providing committed service for 58 years, the University of the Philippines Ichthyophilic Society (UPIS), in line with its anniversary celebration, organized an Outreach Program and Clean-up Drive at the coastal community of Brgy. Alegre, Oton, Iloilo on August 21, 2023. Grocery packages of rice, canned goods, coffee, milk, noodles, shampoo, soap, and toothpaste were given to 25 beneficiaries.

In celebration of History Month, the Center for West Visayan Studies (CWVS) held the highly-anticipated lecture of Dr. Karl Ian Uy Cheng Chua titled “The Afterlives of Art: Problematising the Anti-War Message,” last 30th of August at the office of the CWVS, in the UPV Main Building, Iloilo City.
