The University of the Philippines is embarking on a distinctive direction under the leadership of Atty. Angelo A. Jimenez, who started his term as President on 10 February 2023, promising to transform UP into a “learner-centered digital university.” One of the notable directions in his vision paper is the transformation of UP into a “global university” and a research university heavily focused on academic linkages and graduate and post-graduate programs.
The University of the Philippines Visayas - College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (UPV-CFOS) Seaweed Research Group, in collaboration with the Seaweed Base for International Science and Technology Cooperation (SBIS&TC)-China, organized an Undergraduate Research Symposium last June 7, 2023, at the Umali Hall Conference Room, UPV, Miagao, Iloilo.
Upholding UP Visayas’ culture of promoting research outputs in various fields of expertise, five UPV professors and seven UP High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) students presented their research papers at the 6th International Conference on Asian and Philippine Studies (ICAPS) on June 1-3, 2023 at Silliman University, Dumaguete City.
