BioSci poster wins Best Poster Award in an international symposium

The Oceanbio Lab of the Division of Biological Sciences, CAS, won the best poster award in the international symposium on “Small Pelagic Fish: New Frontiers in Science for Sustainable Management” on November 7-11, 2022, in Lisbon, Portugal. The poster titled “Monitoring catch and effort and linking fleet movement of the sardine fishery in Fisheries Management Area 7, Philippines” was presented by Kim P. Nunez (MS Biology student) and is coauthored by Dr. Wilfredo L. Campos, Ms. Alexanra Bagarinao-Regalado, Dr. Antonio Mendoza, Dr. Plutomeo Nieves, and Dr. Jesus T. Racuyal.

The BS Fisheries (BSF) program of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS) underwent a five-day rigorous ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) programme assessment process.

Negros Occidental BHWs and health professionals attend NCD flipchart training with UPV, WHO, DOH

Barangay health workers and health professionals in Negros Occidental attended the Training of Trainers on the use of Noncommunicable (NCD) diseases flipchart. Forty-five (45) BHWs and health professionals from the various cities and municipalities participated in what can be considered as the first opportunity for them to immerse and formally learn how to use the NCD flipchart effectively in the roll-out the NCD training in the other parts of the Negros Occidental province.

The Center for West Visayan Studies of the College of Arts and Sciences, through its University Research Associates Darlene Joy Calsado and Sashah Dioso, participated in the 8th Global Symposium on Gender in Aquaculture and Fisheries (GAF8) on November 21-23, 2022, at Kochi, Kerala, India.

Dunâ, Kinaíya Kag Paranúbliùn: Book on cultural inventory of Antique launched

The Department of Education (DepEd) – Antique, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), Antique Provincial Government, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), in coordination with the then-Office of Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, launched the book “Dunâ, Kinaíya Kag Paranúbliùn,” A Cultural Inventory of the Province of Antique, at the Old Capitol Building in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique on Nov. 25.
