UP Visayas (UPV) and the Schools Division of Iloilo City (SDO- ILOILO CITY) signed a Memorandum of Agreement as partners in the Civic Education Program Western Visayas last March 23, 2023.
The MOA was signed by the Chancellor of UPV, Dr. Clement C. Camposano, and the Schools Division Superintendent of Iloilo City, Dr. Novelyn M. Vilchez, CESO VI.
Also present during the signing were the Senior Education Program Specialist, Social Mobilization Unit, Erma I. Gevero, and the Project Development Officer, Youth Formation, Candido M. Golez lll. The Civic Education committee members from UPV also attended the MOA signing at the office of the SDO – ILOILO City Superintendent.
UPV and SDO – Iloilo City agreed to work cooperatively as partners for the success of their respective missions stated in the terms and conditions of the agreement, specifically in the implementation of the Civic Education activities.
One of the major projects of this program is the establishment of Sibika Hub in Western Visayas with UPV as the host and lead organizer. Five DepEd schools in Iloilo City were the initial participants of the said program and it aims to expand to all the DepEd schools in the coming years.
This Sibika Hub project is in partnership with the YOUTHLED program of ASIA Foundation and the USAID. The Sibika Hub serves as a centralized resource, network, and community hub on civic education and engagement that is accessible to the community. It is geared towards positive youth development.
