UPV Miagao’s Security Service Force discusses safety and other issues with trike drivers

UPV Visayas Security Service Force led by its Chief, Raymund Germarino met with the members of BSUTODA (Bolho, Sapa, UPV Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association) on January 18, 2020 to discuss transport related issues. BSUTODA is the tricycle association that plies inside the sprawling main UPV campus in Miagao.

Germarino stated that he is working on having the members of the UPV SSF deputized by the LTO so that they can execute sanctions on erring drivers.

“But if you observe traffic and safety rules, there will be no problem, no sanctions. We are emphasizing safety not just for your passengers but for you drivers as well,” he stressed out.

Germarino reminded the group to always have a mindset of safety when they drive around and outside of the campus. For example, he reminded that wearing “tsinelas” (rubber slippers) is a safety issue because one’s foot may slip and one can lost control when driving.

He added that the drivers should have a sense of discipline, observe traffic rules, and to exercise courtesy to their passengers, namely, the faculty, students and staff of the university.

The drivers on the other hand, requested that potholes on the road inside the campus be fixed. Signage for the drop offs for the CAS need also to be revisited because of the newly constructed road.

SO3 Ronnie Fabillo, SO Ray Nocal and SO Joefrey Fenis were also present during the meeting held at the lobby of the administration building.
