UPV GAD FPS members present papers in Asian women congress

Faculty members and researchers from the University of the Philippines Visayas participated in the 5th Congress of the Asian Association of Women’s Studies (AAWS) held at Ewha Womans University, Seoul, South Korea on December 6-8, 2019. With the theme “Facing New Challenges for Feminisms in Asia: Reiterations, Renewals and Revisions,” the said interdisciplinary feminist conference gathered scholars, educators, activists and leaders from all over the world.

Dr. Mary Barby P. Badayos-Jover, Ms. Dana Lee M. Durana, Prof. Ma. Arve B. Bañez and Prof. Elmer L. Jover who are all members of the UPV Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System were among the delegates from the Philippines who presented their papers in the said congress. Several faculty members of the UP High School in Iloilo, namely Prof. Mary Rose Adelle Pacificar, Prof. Ronela S. Jundos, Prof. Pilar Mercedes A. Retiracion and Prof. Myla Fe Gallego Pinuela, also participated in the oral and poster presentations.

The Asian Association of Women’s Studies (AAWS) holds a Congress every three years which started in 2007. This year, the Congress was sponsored by the Ewha Womans University in collaboration with various institutions all over Asia advocating for women empowerment and gender equality.
