The palpable energy of the students can be seen and felt as they assembled at the “acacia road” for a short parade towards the UPV covered court. Each academic group entered the court armed with their trademark song and yells to gather for a short program attended by Chancellor Clement Camposano, Vice-Chancellor for Administration John Lorenz Belanio, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences Dean Encarnacion Emilia Yap, College of Management Dean Christopher Honorario, and UPV Sports Coordinator Catherine Anecita.
The kick off activity of Pahampang 2023 last April 21 was driven by more than the usual enthusiasm and is celebratory in nature because it is the first time in three years that the event is being held in full. There were pockets of Pahampang events among the colleges and the UP High School in Iloilo last year. None two years before that because of the pandemic.
The academic flags of the academic organizations were raised simultaneously. These are: Clovers, Elektrons, Fisheries, Goldies, Magnates, Redbolts, Scions, Skimmers, SoTech, Tycoons, and Ugyon.
Chancellor Camposano officially declared the opening of Pahampang 2023 at the end of the program.
