Lawyers and law students converged at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) for a talk dubbed “Philippine Law Practice and ASEAN Integration” organized by the Philippine Bar Association – International Law Committee, held at the Performing Arts Hall, Main Building, UPV Iloilo City campus, last April 19.
Four established legal practitioners discussed various topics during the program which aimed to help the participants with their career paths and possibilities of the legal profession.
The speakers included Atty. Ernestine Carmen Jo Desiderio Villareal-Fernando, Philippine Bar Association President; Atty. Fina Bernadette dela Cuesta-Tantuico, past President of the Philippine Bar Association and UP Women Lawyers Circle; Atty. Peter Irving Corvera, founding partner of the Tolentino Corvera Macasaet & Reig Law Offices and former Undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government; and Asst. Prof. Andre Palacios, UP ASEAN Law Program Director.
Their respective talks included topics on law firms, judiciary and in-house counsel, government service, and international organizations. These speakers also have legal experience abroad.
The program was in partnership with the UP ASEAN Law Program, UPV (which currently holds law classes as part of the UP Law extension program at the Iloilo City campus), and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) - Iloilo Chapter.
