1,213 first year students gain admission at UPV

One thousand two hundred thirteen first year students gained admission in the University of the Philippines Visayas for the 1st Semester of Academic Year 2019-2020. They were formally welcomed into the university’s fold during the Opening Exercises on August 5, 2019 at the Covered Court in the main campus in Miagao.

Meanwhile, 1,465 upper class students (2nd year level, those whose degree program runs for five years, and others), returned to continue their studies, making UPV’s total enrolment at 2,678.

The College of Arts and Sciences remains to have the highest number of enrollment at 990 (1st year: 442; upper class: 548). The UPV Tacloban College follows at 811 (1st year: 440; upper class: 371) while the College of Management's enrollment is 447 (1st year: 166; upper class: 281).

At the School of Technology, the number of students who registered was 238 (1st year: 74; upper class: 164) while the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences had an enrolment of 192 (1st year: 91; upper class: 101).

The first year students who gained admission in UPV are among the 103,000 that took the UP College Admission Test last year wherein only14,354 qualified for admission in UP’s various campuses all over the country.
