The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and various state university colleges (SUCs) in Panay and Guimaras, has equipped over 350 mapper participants in mapping the significant cultural and natural assets of Panay and Guimaras islands after concluding its series of fruitful training and workshops on the Cultural Mapping of Panay and Guimaras (CMPG) Project.

Gian Niño Genoveza, a University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) administrative staff assigned at the Information and Publications Office, bagged three major awards for his short film “Gibwangan” in the 20th Bantayan Film Festival held in Guimbal, Iloilo on 04 April 2024. Genoveza won Best Film, Best Director, and Best Cinematography.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) held a meeting with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Regional Office 6 to discuss the Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) for UPV’s major infrastructure projects funded through the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and to be located on two of its campuses.

After years of stepping back from the spotlight, the UP Ichthyophilic Society’s (UPIS) Young Wizards of Fisheries Science (YWOFS) Inter-regional Quiz Bowl has finally sparked once again as 16 schools from different places in Western Visayas competed to get the championship title at CFOS AV Hall, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) on April 5.

Engr. Joemel G. Sumbing, Ph.D., an assistant professor at the School of Technology, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and Balik-PhD Program grantee, was invited to present at the 2024 Japan Society of Fisheries Science (JSFS) Spring Meeting from March 27 to 30, 2024 in Tokyo, Japan.

Daniel G. Herradura, a Grade 10 student of UP High School in Iloilo, won first prize in Metro Iloilo Water District’s (MIWD) on-the-spot poster making contest held last 25 March 2024 at the MIWD Activity Area. The poster making contest was mounted as part of the World Water Day celebration with the theme “Water for Peace.”

The University of the Philippines Visayas University Library, under the leadership of Ms. Analiza Galang-Linaugo, University Librarian, recently received four boxes containing 451 books from UP Diliman alumni, Mr. and Ms. Joe and Patria Rivera. The donation includes novels, fiction books, non-fiction books, storybooks for children, and picture books.

The University of the Philippines Visayas Ugnayan ng Pahinungód/Oblation Corps (UPV UP/OC), a volunteer service program directly under the Office of the Chancellor, will ink a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Education 6 in the implementation of the UPV Aabutin Ang Pangarap (UPV-AAP) Caravan.
