Daniel G. Herradura, a Grade 10 student of UP High School in Iloilo, won first prize in Metro Iloilo Water District’s (MIWD) on-the-spot poster making contest held last 25 March 2024 at the MIWD Activity Area. The poster making contest was mounted as part of the World Water Day celebration with the theme “Water for Peace.”

Apart from a certificate, Herradura also received a cash prize of PhP 7,500. He was coached by UPHSI faculty Dr. John Barrios and was accompanied by Mr. Airvin Genesila during the actual competition.

The criteria for judging included relevance to the theme (30%), technical merit (30%), creativity (30%), and originality (10%).

MIWD partnered with its Joint Ventures Corporations, Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply Corporation and Metro Pacific Iloilo Water, Inc., to make the event possible.

Herradura’s design may be used for MIWD’s information and advocacy activities, which may include informational posters, online campaigns, advocacy and corporate shirts, and activity tarpaulins, among others. (With sources from MIWD)
