For AY 2023-2024, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) honored the president of UPV PH Pub, Ms. Danielle Anleigh B. Colacion, as the CAS Most Outstanding Graduate. The award is given to the student who exemplifies the highest standards of scholarship, leadership, and community engagement.

Roberto “Ka Dodoy” Ballon, the 2021 Ramon Magsaysay Award-winning fisher from Kabasalan town, Zamboanga Sibugay, will address the graduating class of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) on July 9, 2024 at the UPV Covered Court, Miagao campus. 

In celebration of Pride Month last June, the University of the Philippines Visayas - Gender and Development Program (UPV GDP) and the Ugsad Regional Gender Resource Network held a forum on LGBT Health, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) awareness, and fostering inclusivity at the UPV Little Theatre, Iloilo City campus on June 28, 2024. 

The graduating students of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) will be collectively known as the “UPV Graduating Class of 2024, Class Haraya,” making history as the first to have a class name and ushering in a new tradition in the University moving forward. 

The Office of Continuing Education and Pahinungod (OCEP) organized an orientation forum on RA 10912, known as the Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016 last 27 June 2024 at the Audio Visual Room of the Graduate and Continuing Education Building, UP Visayas (UPV), Iloilo City campus. This activity was organized in response to the Memorandum Circular No. 07 Series of 2017 by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), calling for all government agencies to apply for accreditation as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider. 

The Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS-IFPDS) conducted a seminar-workshop on national fishery laws and policies to the local government unit of Guimbal, a fourth class coastal town in the Province of Iloilo, on June 19, 2024.

The University of the Philippines Visayas’ (UPV) Capacity Building, Policy Review, and Innovative Legislation Toward Coastline Protection and Development for a Sustainable Future, also known as the UPV Coastline Protection and Development Program, held a dialogue with the private sector last June 26, 2024 at Sam’s 21 Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. 

Five BS in Fisheries (BSF) students from the Capiz State University (CapSU)-Dayao Satellite campus completed their on-the-job training at the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS). 

The UPV Museum of Art and Cultural Heritage (MACH) has received a cache of pre-Spanish artifacts from Ilonggo businessman Mario Yang, a well-known collector of art and cultural artifacts.
