Dr. Adrienne Marrie S. Bugayong-Janagap from the Division of Biological Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, won 1st Place in the 15th PNHRS Week Oral Research Presentation-Professional Category on 08 August 2022, held at Clark Marriott Hotel, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.

The University of the Philippines Visayas recognized the invaluable contributions of its academic and administrative personnel, who rendered 25 years of service, during a formal program held at the UPV Auditorium on 03 August 2022. The Service Awards 2022 also honored the retirees, who have rendered at least 15 years of service.

The UPV Skimmers and UPV Language Program held The Pintados Poetry Workshop on August 06, 2022, at the University of the Philippines Visayas Iloilo City campus and via Zoom. The two-hour workshop session, which covered the basics of poetry-writing and the importance of writing for the regions, was facilitated by renowned Antiqueño poet, fictionist, essayist, playwright, translator, and literary scholar Dr. John Iremil E. Teodoro, who was joined by over 50 registered attendees online and on-site. 

The UAAP Season 84 Men’s Basketball Champions, the UP Fighting Maroons, brought their on and off the court prowess to the Province and City of Iloilo for the 4th straight year, displaying their championship stature on July 29 – August 1, 2022.

Officials of the World Health Organization from WHO Philippines led by OIC Graham Perry Harrison, together with Dr. Rajendra Dayaw, and Dr. Rolando Enrique Domingo, visited the UP Visayas Philippine Genome Center (PGC) in Miagao Iloilo on August 9, 2022.

Assistant Professor Frances Anthea R. Redison of the Division of Social Sciences is the new director of the Center for West Visayan Studies (CWVS) of the College of Arts and Sciences. Her three-year term will start on 16 August 2022.

The College of Management, UP Visayas, conducted a Research Webinar-Workshop Series virtually via Zoom last June 23, 2022. The two-part webinar series with the theme “Strengthening Competencies & Discovering Opportunities in Research” focused on literature review and was attended by members of the faculty and staff of the College.
