Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda initiated P67M funding support for cultural heritage projects, impact evaluation research, and a building rehabilitation project, all appropriated in the 2023 GAA for the University of the Philippines Visayas.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Paskua 2022 festivities extended to the children of barangays Lumangan and Malagyan in Miagao town as they held their respective Christmas parties on Dec. 21, 2022. 

The Christmas season is indeed a time of giving, and the All UP Academic Employees Union-Iloilo Chapter (AUPAEU) chose to share simple blessings with the University’s security guards and janitorial services personnel. 

Over 1.5 million PhP worth of equipment, furniture and interior furnishings, films, and videos were formally turned over to the UPV Cinematheque as donations of Mr. Oliver Exmundo, son of UP alumni Solomon Exmundo and Nilda Lopez-Exmundo.

UP Visayas (UPV) put a smile on the faces of calamity-affected families from the coastal barangays of the Municipality of Miagao during the launching of “PasKOOPerasyon,” a collaborative Christmas gift-giving program, held last December 17, 2022 at the new administration building ground, UPV Miagao campus.

UPV Chancellor Clement Camposano and Pandan, Antique Mayor Tomas Estoperez have agreed to collaborate on more programs that will benefit Pandan and nearby towns of Antique and Aklan. This was after the initial meeting between the two heads at the Pandan Municipal Hall on December 20, 2022. 

Dr. Johannes Magpusao of the School of Technology, University of the Philippines Visayas, actively participated in the 21st IUFoST World Congress of Food Science and Technology held in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. She gave an oral presentation of part of her Ph.D. research titled ”Impact of mechanical processing on rheological and compositional properties of microalgal suspensions.” 

The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS) turned over training packs for sediment quality monitoring in marine fish farms to local government units (LGUs) in Panay.

As the Teaching and Learning Resource Center continues to strive to strengthen the skills of students enrolled in the different courses of UP Visayas (UPV), the office deemed it fitting to collaborate with the Mathematics Cluster of the Division of Physical Sciences and Mathematics  (DPSM) to organize a supplemental learning program for students enrolled in the different courses.
