Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda initiated P67M funding support for cultural heritage projects, impact evaluation research, and a building rehabilitation project, all appropriated in the 2023 GAA for the University of the Philippines Visayas.
The new funding grant will support four (4) projects:
1. Rehabilitation of UP Visayas Auditorium in the Iloilo City campus (P10M)
2. Study on the Impact of the National Government’s Intervention on Malnutrition, Educational Literacy, and Employment in the Province of Antique (P5M)
3. Provision of funds for the publication of books on Indigenous knowledge (P2M)
4. Cultural Mapping project of Panay and Guimaras (P50M)
Following Legarda’s commitment towards inclusive development through socially relevant initiatives, these projects will be collaborated by UPV with the various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Government Units, the Department of Education, and other pertinent agencies in Panay and Guimaras.
