UP Visayas officials met online with representatives from the Embassy of Hungary in the Philippines. On April 27, 2021, Chancellor Clement Camposano, together with Vice Chancellor Philip Ian Padilla and Vice Chancellor Harold Monteclaro, met with Her Excellency Dr. Titanilla Tóth, the Hungarian Ambassador to the Philippines. The online meeting provided a venue for both parties to make introductions, particularly on matters related to fisheries instruction and research.
Six medical technologists and the chief of hospital of Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) completed the Training on Molecular Techniques (RNA Extraction and rRT-PCR) for COVID-19 Testing last April 29-30, 2021, at the Philippine Genome Center Visayas in the Regional Research Center, University of the Philippines Visayas, Miagao, Iloilo.
The UPV Community Pantry was opened last April 30, 2021. It was organized by UP Fight (composed of UP Alumni Association Iloilo Chapter and iAmUPHi) in collaboration with the UPV administration headed by Chancellor Clement C. Camposano, the Office of Alumni Relations led by Director Rey Carlo T. Gonzales, and with the support of various UPV alumni and other constituents, individuals, and group donors.
Since the start of community lockdown and the suspension of classes across the country, more and more children are being forced to stay at home, resulting in more students becoming disengaged from or deprived entirely of their education. Undoubtedly, the global COVID-19 pandemic and its effects magnified the existing literacy challenges, exponentially increasing the inequity between children who are supported and those who aren’t when it comes to reading.
