To strengthen research culture not only means allowing grassroots teachers into consuming and producing knowledge, but also engaging them to go through the processes and mechanisms of consuming and producing knowledge through quality control, UP Visayas Chancellor Dr. Clement Camposano emphasized during the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and partner Department of Education – Schools Division of Aklan (DepEd SDO-Aklan).
The Division of Humanities and the Language Program conducted a public lecture series on World Englishes on May 19, 2023, at the UPV MILC, UP Visayas, Miagao, Iloilo. Titled “Transforming Humanities Education - The API Lecture Series on Language, Culture, and Discourse,” the activity featured three lectures by faculty members from the Ateneo de Manila University and the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
After a series of scriptwriting, cinematography, and film-editing workshops, the Grade 12 students from the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand of the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) showcased four documentary films and one short film through their film festival titled, “Ralantawon: A Documentary Film Festival on HUMSS-Related Researches” at the UPV Cinematheque on May 18, 2023.
