An aquarium that will showcase the tropical and marine living species endemic in the country and a window for viewers’ appreciation and understanding of the aquatic world. This was the concept of the Diwata Aquascape, one of the components of the UPV Diwata Shore Complex located at the beachfront property of UP Visayas Miagao campus facing the waters of Panay Gulf.
On October 26, 2017, UP Visayas had a soft launch of the Diwata Aquascape attended by its guest of honor, Atty. Salvador “Buddy” M. Britanico. The start of the construction of the Aquascape was made possible with a P 15 M initial fund from his Priority Development Assistance Fund as BANAT Party List Representative back in 2010. Also present was Dr. Minda J. Formacion, former UPV Chancellor in whose term Diwata Shore Complex was conceptualized and construction of the Aquascape was started.
