UP Vice President for Development Ferdinand Jesus A. Pecson and his team visited UP Visayas to check and review ongoing, and initiated projects at the Iloilo City and Miagao campuses on June 26-27, 2023.
Joining VP Pecson were Dir. Harvey O. Besa, OIC Director Vincent Jerome S. Jamir, Richmond M. Pancho, and Carlos N. Forteza. An orientation on the LUDIP of the Iloilo City Campus was given by Dr. Rhodella Ibabao, Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, which was held at the Office of Initiatives for Cultural and the Arts (OICA) Conference Room on June 26. She also gave a briefing on the ongoing, and proposed projects at the Iloilo City campus. Chancellor Clement C. Camposano, Vice Chancellor for Administration John Lorenz Belanio, and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Philip Ian Padilla were present during the presentation.
Ocular inspections of the following facilities in the Miagao and Iloilo City campuses also took place during the visit. The inspection included the following for the Iloilo City campus: Admin. Services Bldg. – for Phase 2, UPHSI Bldg., Auditorium (for renovation), Handumanan Heritage Bldgs. (for repair), Graduate and Continuing Education Bldg. (for roof repair), and the UPV Main Building (completed).
For the Miagao campus, an ocular inspection of selected buildings and roads were also done, including the Regional Resource Center (for Phase 4), Main Library (Phase 2), SOTECH Bldg. (for Phase 5), Academic Loop (road network), and a windshield survey of housing facilities; Sitio 1 or Sitio 2 (Relocation Sites on campus), the trails and arboretum, and the sites of existing and proposed transfer of the municipal cemetery.
The inspection was done in coordination with UPV’s OVCPD-Campus Architect Team, Monitoring & Evaluation Team, Site Acquisition and Resettlement Project Team, Site Devt. and Reforestation Project Team, Finance Resource Analyst Staff as well as the OVCA Campus Development and Maintenance Office and the Social Security Force.
Pecson and his team also had a meeting with UPV officials, including Chancellor Camposano, VC Belanio, VC Ibabao, Budget Officer Arlene Avanceña, OIC-Accounting Officer Eleanor Ravena, and Supply and Property Services Officer Emiliza Lozada at the Coastline 5023: DOST PCAARD - UPV FTBI. They discussed the details of the ongoing and proposed projects at the Miagao campus, particularly their status and further deliverables.
