Entrepreneurs seek assistance for R&D-related concerns at ‘Pagpakig-angot’

Company heads and incubatees based in Western Visayas sought assistance for research and development (R&D)-related concerns of their businesses at the “Pagpakig-angot 2023” with consortia member institutions (CMIs) of the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program in Region 6, held at the Little Theatre, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), Iloilo City campus, June 29. 

Pagpakig-angot is a reverse pitching event organized by the RAISE Program in Western Visayas. With the theme, “Building Industry - Academe Connection Through Technology Transfer,” the activity aimed to provide a venue for the agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources (AANR)-related industry sector to share their R&D-related problems or concerns.

The company heads pitched their businesses and concerns in the morning, while incubatees delivered their pitches in the afternoon. The two batches were given the opportunity to discuss with concerned officials from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and RAISE Program during separate open forum segments, particularly on intellectual property management and transfer of technologies.

Abigail Gueco, Senior Science Research Specialist of DOST-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development-Technology Transfer and Promotion Division (PCAARRD-TTPD); Dr. Efren Linan, RAISE Program in WV Leader; Mark Glenn Villamor Capiz State University (CapSU)- Intellectual Property Management Office Director and RAISE in WV Project 3 Leader; Dr. Reynold Tan, UPV Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (TTBDO) Director; and Ferelyn Oliva, UPV TTBDO Technology Transfer Officer and Raise in WV Project 2 Leader were present during the pitches. 

CMIs and their technology generators under the RAISE Program that are open to sharing their technologies for collaborations and partnerships were at the event. The list of CMIs present included:
