The administration of the University of the Philippines Visayas continuously creates projects to address the needs of the university with regard to land use and development of infrastructure.
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, headed by VCPD Dr. Rhodella A. Ibabao, led the Technical Working Group (TWG) in the crafting of the UPV Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP) 2021-2030 for Iloilo Campuses and invited the Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (REPS) for a sectoral consultation on September 5, 2023, 1:00 PM at the Conference Room of Umali Hall, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences.
The REPS gladly accepted the invitation as this was an apt opportunity for them to raise their concerns with regards to the infrastructure developments in the university that will greatly affect their research and extension pursuits, the conduct of professional services, and the community of Miagao and Iloilo City that neighbors the two UPV campuses in Iloilo.
The consultation was attended by officers and members of the REPS Association (REPSA) and they attentively listened to the presentation of UPV LUDIP by Arch. Christian Rodeo Pancrudo of the OVCPD.
Present in the consultation were 13 REPSA members and officers from the Institute of Aquaculture (IA), Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanology (IMFO), Institute of Fish Processing Technology (IFPT), Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies (IFPDS), and Museum of Natural Sciences (MNS) of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), Office of Continuing Education and Pahinungod (OCEP), School of Technology (SoTech), Guidance and Counseling Services Unit (GCSU) of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), and the Teaching and Learning Resource Center (TLRC).
The REPS were given the apt avenue to reflect on the university’s LUDIP, raise important questions, and comment on the development of infrastructures of the university, all of which were discussed with VCPD Ibabao and the OVCPD team.
The consultation was attended by the UPV REPS in the hopes that UPV will be able to further its goals through establishing relevant infrastructure plans that contribute to the development of the University and the larger community.
