“I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the efforts that you have done in putting together this UPV Employees’ Park, at no cost to the University, devoting time and effort including your weekends in making this happen.”
Vice-Chancellor for Administration Mary Ann Gumban said this to janitors, CDMO, and UPV SSF personnel who gathered on a cloudy Friday morning, October 30, 2020, for a simple ceremony of the ribbon cutting and the unveiling of the signage of the UPV Employees’ Park to mark its opening.
At the height of the nationwide ECQ from March to May this year, the CDMO, the UPV SSF, the janitors along with the members of the UPV Logistics Team headed by Gumban (including the Health Services Unit) served as front liners in responding to the many challenges posed by the lockdown in both Miagao and Iloilo City campuses.
It was a fitting send-off for VCA Gumban to mark her last official function on her last day of office to be able to say thank you to these people who put in long hours and work in the background. Gumban thought of this idea for an employee’s park in close coordination with CDMO that conceptualized its design while the janitorial staff did the labor.
