The College of Management, UP Visayas, conducted a Research Webinar-Workshop Series virtually via Zoom last June 23, 2022. The two-part webinar series with the theme “Strengthening Competencies & Discovering Opportunities in Research” focused on literature review and was attended by members of the faculty and staff of the College.
UPV Chancellor Dr. Clement C. Camposano welcomed the participating faculty and staff led by CM Dean Prof. Christopher B. Honorario. In his opening remarks, Dr. Camposano emphasized that research is the lifeblood of any educational institution and how it contributes to the advancement of knowledge and delivery of quality education. He also commended the College for pushing the webinar workshop series to increase the competencies of the faculty and staff and inspire them to engage in research.
The lectures were presented by seasoned researchers from the University of the Philippines and James Cook University in Australia.
The first of the two lectures was titled “Practical Tips in Doing a Literature Review” by Dr. Maria Faina L. Diola. Dr. Diola is a full professor at the University of the Philippines-National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG), where she teaches Research Methods in Public Administration.
Dr. Jenny H. Panchal gave the second lecture, “Rethinking Literature Review for Early Career Researchers (ECRs).” Dr. Panchal is a Senior Lecturer at the College of Business, Law and Governance, James Cook University Australia, Singapore Campus, and handles tourism and hospitality subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Prof. Christopher B. Honorario, Dean of the College of Management, delivered the closing remarks. In his message, he thanked the speakers for sharing their time, knowledge, and insights with the faculty and staff of the College. He expressed high hopes that the webinar series will translate into meaningful research initiatives for the College of Management and the University.
The UPV CM Research Webinar-Workshop Series is just one of the many activities underway that aim to increase the faculty’s research productivity and enhance the College’s research capability.
