The UP High School in Iloilo initiated a ceremonial signing of deeds of donation with its alumni as part of the Adopt-a-Room project of UP Visayas on August 7, 2023 at the GCEB Training Room.
Prof. Edelia Braga, UPHSI Principal, welcomed the alumni together with Dr. Rhodella Ibabao, Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, Prof. Joy Lizada, Executive Director of UPVFI, and Dr. Rey Carlo Gonzales, Director of the Office of Alumni Relations.
Joining the University officials were Mr. Artemio “Junie” Pama Jr., iAmUPHi President, Dr. Marovi Celis, and Maria Monica Hechanova-Quioge, who represented UPHSI Batch ’78. Apart from Batch ’78, representatives of other batches also joined the activity to sign their deeds of donation and turn-over their donations.
The donors include Batch ’70, represented by Ma. Evelyn Jimena and Alma Java; Batch ’71, Batch ’72, represented by Melanie Villareal, Ma. Dulce Hechanova Jardeleza, and Amy Java-Labarejos; Batch ’74, Batch ’91, Batch ’92, represented by Tres Arandela; Batch ’93, Batch ’96, and Batch 2001, represented by Cheryl Fernandez-Abila.
The UPHSI Adopt-a-Room Guidelines state that the project “aims to provide a well-designed classroom that promotes and supports better classroom management which is conducive for learning and teaching for both the student and the faculty. The project also aims to be a dynamic venue for strong partnership with prospective alumni and friends of UPV sharing the same advocacy of promoting quality education. The rooms for this project include academic and research rooms, conference rooms, theater, library, and audio-visual rooms.”
The members of the Committee on Alumni Relations and Adopt-a-Room Project of the UP High School in Iloilo were also present during the ceremonial signing. The committee is headed by its Chairperson Asso. Prof. Joel Labos. The committee members who were present to witness the event were Asst. Prof. Anelyn Yabillo, Asso. Prof. Dominique Maquiran, Ms. Trina Antonette Duremdes, Asst. Prof. Raphael Belleza, Asst. Prof. Pilar Mercedes Retiracion, Asst. Prof. Jonny Pornel, and Mr. Jaypee Agregado.
