Aiming to inspire other students from U.P. High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) and provide them with expertise in research, Grade 12–STEM students organized a conference-exhibit titled, “UGBOS: A Conference-Exhibit on STEM-Related Researches” held at the UPV Little Theater on May 3, 2023.
Six research papers that encompass Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and BioChemistry were presented in the conference. These papers were accompanied by models, products, posters, and videos that were exhibited at the lobby of the UPV LT. Comments and suggestions were given by a panel of experts composed of Mr. Roxzien Shaye G. Sosbreño, Dr. Ma. Socorro G. Leong-on, and Prof. Early Sol A. Gadong. Before the start of the presentation, an inspirational talk on ‘research-as-fun’ activity was given by Dr. Christopher Marlowe A. Caipang.
The student researchers were mentored by Dr. Jonny B. Pornel in their Research 1 and 2 courses while the entire conference was supervised by Dr. John E. Barrios as part of the course requirement of the Culminating Activity subject. It is the last of the series of courses under the Integrated Research Apprenticeship (I-REAP) program of UPHSI’s senior high school.
