The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) will officially launch the Participatory Food Safety Manual, a landmark initiative developed through the collective expertise of the Food Safety Manual Project team, on May 23, 2025.
Crafted in both English and Hiligaynon, this practical guide offers accessible, culturally relevant food safety practices tailored for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippine food service sector, including street food vendors. The manual aims to make food safety not only more understandable, but more applicable to everyday local food operations.
This release marks a major milestone nearly a year after its ceremonial soft launch in June 2024. After months of rigorous development and community input, the manual is ready to support safe, inclusive, and sustainable food handling across Iloilo and the region.
This project was funded by the Special Project Funding Window of the UPV-OVCRE (SP23-15).
