SOTECH Charts Strategic Course for 2025–2027 in Visionary Planning Workshop

The School of Technology (SOTECH) of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) took a significant step towards shaping its future by holding a Strategic Planning Workshop for 2025–2027 at Hotel del Rio, Iloilo City. The two-day workshop brought together faculty and staff to craft a focused and forward-looking roadmap aligned with the UP System’s broader strategic framework for 2023–2029.

The workshop served as a platform for defining SOTECH’s key priorities over the next three years. Activities included the articulation of a renewed Vision and Mission, which will guide the school’s programs, decision-making, and priority-setting. A comprehensive SWOT analysis was also conducted, enabling participants to identify internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats. This analysis will inform strategies that leverage advantages, address challenges, and navigate potential risks in the ever-evolving educational landscape.

Participants collaborated to set specific goals and objectives that will steer SOTECH’s academic and operational initiatives. These were complemented by strategic planning sessions, where ethical and sustainable programs were formulated to meet the school’s aspirations. The sessions were facilitated by experts from the UPV College of Management: Ms. Mary Ann Sedero, Assistant Professor Friedzel de Leon, Associate Professor Nathaniel Samson, and Dr. Reynold Tan.

Culminating the workshop was a fellowship night that reinforced camaraderie, unity, and the core values of creativity, communication, responsibility, accountability, and passion that defines SOTECH community. This spirit of collaboration continued as committees convened to draft a comprehensive calendar of activities that will drive the school’s direction through 2027.

“Realigning our vision, updating our goals, and defining clear strategies are crucial steps toward achieving excellence at SOTECH,” said Dean Johannes M. Magpusao in her closing remarks. “By developing a strategic roadmap, we can focus on initiatives that deliver tangible value to our stakeholders and the wider community.”

With renewed direction and shared commitment, SOTECH is poised to embark on a dynamic journey of innovation, impact, and academic excellence in the years ahead.
