OICA receives artwork for the UPV Art Collection

The Office of Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (OICA) received a painting donation from Antiqueño Alex Moscoso Española on 21 Feb. 2023.

In the 4ft x 4ft acrylic painting titled “Article III,” the artist handwrote on canvas the Article III of the Bill of Rights that guarantees the people’s right to equal protection. The artwork is his statement on what he feels about the surging disregard for such rights.

Española is a multidisciplinary artist hailing from Tibiao, Antique. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from De La Salle University Manila. He has been doing art since 1998 and has had six solo exhibitions since then. He draws inspiration for his works from the socio-political, cultural, and economic realities of the Philippines.

Española is currently taking up Juris Doctor in the UP College of Law Extension Program in Iloilo.

Martin Genodepa, OICA Director, received the artwork on behalf of the University after the gift was formalized through the signing of the Deed of Donation.
