Members of the Crisis Management Committee participate in a workshop to discuss contingency plans

The reconstituted members of the UP Visayas (UPV) Crisis Management Committee attended a workshop last 27 Feb. 2023 at the New Admin Bldg. Conference Room, Miagao Campus with the following objectives: review and update the initial Crisis Management Plans, discuss the UPV Crisis Contingency Plan, and do a crisis management training needs assessment.

Prof. John Lorenz Belanio, Vice Chancellor for Administration, facilitated the discussion on the existing Crisis Management Plan of the University. Prof. Ramil Atando, Project Development Assistant for Crisis Management, took charge of the discussion on the contingency plan and training needs assessment as workshop facilitator.

The participants were divided into three groups during the workshop according to the categories that appear in the crisis management plan: natural hazards, anthropogenic or human-induced hazards, and others, which include crises related to mental health, digital technology, and safety and security. The participants were then asked to add any form of crises that are not yet listed under these categories. A contingency plan was then developed concerning these crises.

The last part of the workshop was all about doing a training needs assessment to identify much needed training that will capacitate personnel and students to respond appropriately to a crisis. The proposed trainings for the year were submitted for perusal and approval.
