The Office of Continuing Education and Pahinungod (OCEP), University of the Philippines Visayas in cooperation with Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) – Iloilo Chapter, hosted a seminar-workshop titled “Dealing with Stress, Change and Technology: A Seminar – Workshop Series on Adapting to Digital Disruptions. The successful one-day training saw the participation of fifty four (54) Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) from the region. It was held on 27 November 2024 at Smallville 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.
UP Visayas Chancellor Clement C. Camposano delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of embracing innovations in the face of ever changing technological landscape.
The seminar-workshop aimed to empower the participants to adapt effectively and thrive to the challenges brought about by the rapidly evolving digital world. The program featured series of insightful talks from distinguished resource persons. Dr. Johnrev Guilaran, a faculty member of CAS-Division of Social Sciences, talked about “Forging Meaning Social Connections Online” and “Stress Management in Remote Working Set-up.”
Prof. Melanie R. Sartorio of the Department of Management, College of Management provided an interactive discussion on “Embracing Change and Adapting to Digital Disruptions.” Atty. Arnold G. Diaz on the other hand, provided participants with knowledge on cyber security with his session on “CPA Cyber Security: Protecting your Clients against Internet Fraud and Online Scams.”
The event concluded with a closing remarks from Prof. Frediezel De Leon, Acting Director of OCEP. Prof. De Leon acknowledged the active participation of the attendees and highlighted OCEPs commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth. She also recognized the importance of active partnerships with professional groups such as PICPA – Iloilo Chapter.
UP Visayas, through OCEP, is an accredited CPD provider for the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Council of Accountancy. This Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program provided eight CPD points to the participants. Ms. Rowelle L. Serilo, CPA, faculty member of the Department of Accountancy, College of Management, serves as Focal Person.
