Students from Kagoshima University Faculty of Fisheries visited the UP Visayas Miagao campus on February 27, 2023 accompanied by faculty in charge Dr. Ishizaki Munechika.
Their tour of the campus started with a courtesy call at the Office of the Chancellor, where they were received by Prof. John Lorenz Belanio, Vice-Chancellor for Administration, who is currently OIC as Chancellor Clement Camposano is on official travel.
They had another courtesy call at the Office of the Dean of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences and were received by the Dean, Prof. Encarnacion Emilia Yap.
The group was also given a tour at the Regional Research Center, where they were briefed on the laboratories therein, particularly the Philippine Genome Center Visayas and the research projects being undertaken. They were then given a guided tour of the rest of the campus organized by the Information and Publications Office.
The students’ visit in the Philippines is part of a cultural immersion program of the UPV Language Program Office, where they have enrolled in order to learn to speak English. They were accompanied by Prof. Rene Trance of the UP High School in Iloilo.
