More than 120 faculty members from the Colleges of Education across Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) campuses—Tiwi, Poblacion, San Enrique, Dingle, and Dumangas—gathered for a Training-the-Trainers Workshop on Classroom-Based Action Research (CBAR) last February 3, 2025, at ISUFST-Dingle Campus.
The workshop was led by Asst. Prof. Early Sol A. Gadong, a faculty member of UP High School in Iloilo (UPHSI), Division of Professional Education at the University of the Philippines Visayas. With her was Asst. Prof. Joven S. Llabore who served as facilitator.
Dr. Joan Belga, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering a strong research culture.
“This CBAR Training-the-Trainers Workshop is part of ISUFST’s mission to empower the ‘movers’ of our teacher education programs. By equipping faculty with the necessary skills and knowledge, we ensure that pre-service teachers are well-prepared to engage in action research. This initiative aligns with our vision of becoming a leading research university, guided by integrity, discipline, social justice, and academic excellence,” she stated.
