DoPE faculty receives Outstanding Paper Award in Malaysia conference

Asst. Prof. Teresita E. Portugalete from the Department of Physical Education, College of Arts and Sciences, stood out in the recently concluded 23rd South East Asian Association for Institutional Research (SEAAIR) Conference held at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, after receiving one of the two Outstanding Paper Awards for her paper titled “Design and Implementation of the E-module in Advanced Swimming.”

SEAAIR has a paper acceptance rate of 61%. Among the 93 abstracts submitted to the organizers, only 44 were allowed to present their papers at the conference, which took place from 26 to 28 September 2023. The paper presenters come from nine different countries: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. 

The conference theme this year is "Empowering Education Through Research.” For more than two decades, SEAAIR has been known for its steadfastness in organizing annual conferences, providing a valuable platform for institutional research practitioners, scholarly researchers, and higher education decision-makers from Southeast Asia to come together, share their research findings, and learn from each other's experiences.

With multiple themes being covered, the conference will delve into SEAAIR's immense potential in generating value and explore opportunities from various perspectives, including Oversights and Governance of Education Through Research; Enhanced Educational Practices and Pedagogies Through Research; Quality Assurance of Research-enabled Education; Systems & Technologies Underpinning Research Towards Education Vision; Research-enriched STEM, Arts and Humanities, Technical & Vocational, Special Needs; and Early Childhood Education.
