CWVS-UPV holds month-long Youth Conference on Culture, Arts, and Heritage

The Center for West Visayan Studies-UP Visayas (CWVS) started its 2021 Youth Conference on Culture, Arts, and Heritage or 2021 Youth CCAH on May 5, 2021. The online event is in partnership with the National Youth Forum on Heritage (NYFH) and DYUP 102.7 FM.

This month-long online event is in celebration of the National Heritage Month and is part of the UP Visayas Quincentennial Celebration. The 2021 Youth CCAH aims to encourage the youth in Western Visayas as well as from the other regions to participate and be inspired by the various initiatives of their fellow youth in heritage promotion and preservation.

In his opening remarks, Chancellor Clement C. Camposano highlighted this event as an opportunity for the youth to be part of the national conversation on national heritage. He further stressed that there is a need for a re-articulation and the creative reimagination of the Filipino identity. Dr. Randy M. Madrid, CWVS Director, expressed his gratitude to the speakers and guests and the rest of the organizing members for being able to pull off this event despite the pandemic. He also recalled how Youth CCAH was first held in 2018 in Aklan with CWVS and Aklan youth groups as organizers. Mr. Normon A. Laurista, NYFH – Western Visayas, discussed the aims, issues, and principles of the Makiling Agenda on Heritage Education and Youth Initiatives 2020 or known as the Makiling Agenda 2020.

The theme for this year is “West Visayan Youth as Stewards of Heritage.” The webinar series is scheduled for all Wednesdays of May 2021 at 9:00 A.M. The schedule and panel discussion topics are as follows:
