Employees of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) were pampered during the CFOS Wellness Day on October 30, 2024, at the Pidlaoan Building, CFOS, UP Visayas, Miagao campus.
Thirty (30) faculty members, REPS, and administrative staff selected through draw lots were treated to free foot reflex and back massage services during the one-day pampering and wellness activity organized by the CFOS Gender and Development Committee.
This was held in partnership with the All UP Academic Employees Union (AUPAEU)-Iloilo Chapter in celebration of the Acad Union Month in October.
CFOS dean Prof. Harold M. Monteclaro lauded the organizers for carrying out the activity for the welfare of the CFOS constituents.
Recipients of the activity expressed their gratitude to the CFOS administration, GAD committee headed by Ms. Genna D. Serofia, and AUPEAU-Iloilo Chapter for the complimentary pampering.
“The recent pampering session was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The massage activities were well chosen, focusing on relaxation and stress relief, which made us feel valued and appreciated. It was a perfect retreat to recharge both mind and body. The initiative was not only beneficial for morale but also a great way to boost productivity and foster a positive work environment. Thank you, CFOS, CFOS-GAD, and AUPAEU for the experience!” remarked Dr. Lily Anne Piñosa, REPS from the Institute of Aquaculture.
“I am thankful for the free massage, which I cannot do on the weekend as I have other things to do. It’s great that we have this at the college on official time,” said Lei Marie Tes Paulma, an admin staff of the Office of the Dean.
Some employees who were not lucky to be drawn took the opportunity to avail and personally pay for their chosen services.
AUPAEU-Iloilo Chapter also gave out free reading glasses.
The undertaking was the second initiative conducted by the CFOS-GAD committee at the college this year.
Last April 3, 2024, the Committee provided skills training on post-harvest fisheries technology to 14 CFOS non-teaching personnel. The participants attended lectures and hands-on activities in milkfish deboning and smoking.
