Career Scientists from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), UP Visayas participated in the 18th Annual Meeting and Scientific Forum held at Vivere Hotel and Resorts, Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City November 21-22, 2024.
Dr. Mary Jane Apines-Amar and Dr. Erlinda G. Naret, a retired University Researcher from the Institute of Aquaculture, joined other career scientists in the country in the two-day event. Amar served as one of the masters of ceremony, while Naret acted as the conference’s rapporteur.
The Philippine Association of Career Scientists, Inc. (PACS) in coordination with the Scientific Career System (SCS) – National Academy of Science & Technology (NAST), Department of Science & Technology (DOST) and Civil Service Commission (CSC) organized the 18th Annual Meeting and Scientific Forum with the theme: “Career Scientists: Shaping the Future Globally Through Science & Technology.
The event brought together Career Scientists as the forefront for research & development (R & D), technology & innovation to boost the nation’s global competitiveness anchored on science, in order to ensure food security and improve the nation’s resilience for the Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., DOST Secretary, graced the event as the keynote speaker.
Amar and Naret were conferred Career Scientists by SCS-NAST, DOST-CSC on March 13, 2013 and June 9, 2014, respectively, due to their Scientific Productivity and Professional Standing.
