The “Paghugpong: University-wide Organization Fair,” organized by the University of the Philippines Visayas University Student Council (UPV USC), officially opened on Nov. 6, 2024.
The two-day student org fair features 65 student organizations – composed of academic, interest, and regional organizations of the University. Their exhibits and booths are displayed at the UPV Dorm Area, Miagao campus.
According to the UPV USC, Paghugpong serves as the culminating event of the monthlong activities in October prepared by the student body in line with mass campaigns, particularly giving importance to the peasant sector, mental health, and gender liberation.
During the opening program, UPV USC Chairperson Anton Mathew Quilantang thanked the organizations that are participating in the org fair, as well as their partners, and concerned UPV offices.
He hopes Paghugpong will be an avenue where student organizations unite for their collective campaigns and initiatives for the current academic year and broader national issues.
Chancellor Clement Camposano said the event is the beginning of a productive journey for the organizers and participating organizations.
He said he is confident that the UPV USC and the participating organizations will continue to improve on the holding of the event in subsequent iterations.
On Nov. 7, a closing program filled with performances from select student organizations will cap off this year’s org fair. (With sources from UPV USC)
