It was an adrenaline-filled day for the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and the Miagao Local Government Unit (LGU Miagao) as the 12th UPV-LGU Miagao Friendship Celebration culminated with games and performances on July 26, 2024.
The jampacked final day saw personnel from UPV and LGU Miagao compete in ball games and traditional Filipino games at the UPV Covered Court in the morning and participate in the thrilling Bingo Socials at the Justice Ramon B. Britanico (JRBB) Hall in the afternoon.
Some were able to win gift and cash prizes, courtesy of the contributions from the officials and office and unit heads of UPV and LGU Miagao, in the series of raffle draws that afternoon.
An acoustic jam session and dance performances served as the entertainment during the closing program. Donning their throwback-themed outfits, the performers sang and danced to music hits from the various decades.
Personnel from the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) Miagao Campus also performed a dance number. During the program, ISAT U Miagao Campus’ participation in the weeklong friendship celebration was highlighted. It was likewise announced that it will be part of the annual celebration moving forward starting next year.
Meanwhile, the local exhibitors of the Tiangge ni Abyan were awarded for their participation in the celebration. The trade fair at the JRBB Hall featured Miagao's rich cultural heritage and products.
The weeklong UPV-LGU Friendship Celebration from July 20 to 26, 2024, centered on the theme “Pasakdag kang Maayo nga Kaangtanan Sa Komunidad kang Miagao."
