The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) held a Rogelio O. Juliano Lecture that highlighted a talk on municipal waters delivered by maritime law and security expert Atty. Jay L. Batongbacal of the UP College of Law on February 10, 2025 at the AV Hall, CFOS, UP Visayas Miagao. 

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), through the UP System, is now set to forge a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) under usufruct with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) for the establishment of the UPV-PCA Hybrid Coconut Seed Farm in UPV Miagao campus.

However, in the digital age, misinformation runs rampant, especially in politics and information about candidates. There is an increasing demand to ensure that the information one consumes is true. Gen Z and millennials make up 63% of the voting population for the coming year, highlighting the extent of the potential impact these two generations may have in shaping the political landscape of the Philippines.

The UP Hamili-Hamilia collaborated with the WVSU MAARAM Organization in conducting an art workshop for Ati children of the indigenous Ati Community in Brgy. Ipil Calinog Iloilo on February 22, 2025. The initiative is conducted in celebration of National Arts Month this February.

Dr. Erlinda Ganzon-Naret proudly received recognition from the West Visayas State University (WVSU) as the Most Outstanding Alumna in the field of Research, Science and Technology  in its 2025  Grand Jubilarian Alumni  Homecoming held at the Iloilo Convention Center  (ICC) last January 28.

After a five-year hiatus, the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) student journalists marked their come back to the 2025 Iloilo City Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) as they won multiple awards in both individual and group categories held last February 8 and 15 at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, Iloilo City.
