The UP Hamili-Hamilia collaborated with the WVSU MAARAM Organization in conducting an art workshop for Ati children of the indigenous Ati Community in Brgy. Ipil Calinog Iloilo on February 22, 2025. The initiative is conducted in celebration of National Arts Month this February.
The workshop was enthusiastically attended by over thirty Ati youth. WVSU-MAARAM members assisted students in learning how to paint by using brushes and acrylic to create shapes on paper. Later on, they learned how to paint landscapes on canvases using inspiration from their surroundings.
For many of these students, this is their first time to handle a brush and paint and using them to create art. It is important to pique their interest because this is a rare chance for these children to encounter such a kind of activity. The workshop has evolved into a joyful space where they engage and express their imagination and creativity through their artwork.
The art materials were solicited by the group and came from artists themselves who want to share the artform for these IP children. Other sponsors for the activity include Thrive Art, Krokis Art Shop, Teri del Rosario, Cecilia Velez, Tony Inocencio, Caiden Ramirez and others. (Source: UP Hamili Hamilia)
