The UP Visayas Office of Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (OICA) has recently expanded its art collection by acquiring two paintings and accepting a sculpture donation from award-winning Ilonggo artists. 

The algal paste technology of UP Visayas College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) participated in the recently concluded international livestock and aquaculture fair held in the World Trade Center, Pasay City on May 22-24, 2024.

Students of NSTP-LTS Section 1 of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) under the advisory of Ms. Analiza S. Galang-Linaugo completed their 40-hour service training program for the Grade 7 and 8 students of St. Louise de Marillac School of Miagao on April 27, 2024. The event was done through a culmination program after a series of enrichment programs on English and Mathematics from February to April this year. 

The NSTP-CWTS Section 4 Group 1, composed of first-year BS Chemical Engineering and BS Economics students of the University of the Philippines Visayas, held an event titled "Nourishing the Minds and Bodies of Residents of Barangay Baybay Norte, Miagao, Iloilo” on May 11, 2024. The event, hosted at the Barangay Baybay Norte Day Care Center, drew 30 participants, including 27 children aged 5-12 and three parents or guardians.

The Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (REPS) of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) gathered for its first general assembly under the new set of REPS Association (REPSA) officers for 2024-2026, led by REPSA President Rose Toledo Mueda, at the MILC AVR, College of Arts and Sciences, UPV Miagao campus on May 29, 2024. 

Sashah Dioso, the University Research Associate of the Center for West Visayan Studies, was elected as the first President of Asosasyon ng mga Dalubhasa, may Hilig at Interes sa Kasaysayan or ADHIKA ng Pilipinas – Kanlurang Bisayas Balangay during the 9th ADHIKA Regional Conference on West Visayan History and Culture held on May 23-25, 2024 hosted by the College of Education and the Social Science Department of the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City.

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Seaweed Laboratory of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences of the is pleased to announce that Kyle Anthony Salinas, a BS Fisheries student, is the recipient of the first Olmix Best Seaweed Thesis Award.

In an endeavor to develop the essence of leadership and governance among student leaders in selected high schools in Iloilo, four first year students from the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) conducted a program called The Leadership Launchpad (TLLP) in Guimbal National High School last April 27, 2024 and in Kirayan National High School, Miagao on May 18, 2024. The undertaking is a student project for the National Service Training Program - Civil Welfare Training Service.

Forty learners based in four barangays in Miagao town, Iloilo graduated from the School-on-the-Air (SOA) Program on Integrated Pest Management during a ceremony held at the CFOS AV Hall, University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Miagao campus on May 23.
