This 2024, the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) celebrates the 77th year of UP presence in Iloilo with a simple opening activity during the 2024 International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) to be held in Arevalo this coming 21 September, together with several volunteer organizations. The UPV Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, a volunteer service program directly under the Office of the Chancellor, and its volunteers will represent UPV during the cleanup.

In a historic feat, four Bachelor of Science in Statistics students from UP Visayas took home the top prize in this year’s Philippine Statistics Association, Inc. (PSAI) Annual Conference Best Student Paper Competition held at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.

A training on enhancing milkfish hatchery techniques through high-density larval rearing and bioencapsulation was conducted at ALT Fisheries and Aquaventures, Inc. Hatchery in Panabo City, Davao del Norte from September 3-5, 2024.

The Transportation Science Society of the Philippines (TSSP), in cooperation with the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), held the 3rd Workshop for Young Researchers (WYRe) on September 12, 2024 at the College of Management, UP Visayas, Iloilo City Campus.

A team of UPV economics students clinched the 1st runner-up award at the National Economic Summit 2024 Case Competition held at the Institute of Biology Auditorium, UP Diliman on September 14, 2024. 

An orientation on gender awareness and sensitivity and anti-sexual harassment (ASH) for faculty members, REPS, and staff of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), UP Visayas  was held at the AV Hall, CFOS, UPV Miagao campus on September 11, 2024.

UP High School in Iloilo’s Grade 10 student, Ayanna P. Fuerte, reaped medals in the recently concluded MLA Dance Prix 2024 held at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in BGC, Taguig last August 24-25, 2024. 

The University of the Philippines Visayas Crisis Management Committee (UPV-CMC) led the conduct of an earthquake drill for the faculty, staff, and students of the College of Management (CM), at the UPV Iloilo City campus on Sept. 12, 2024. 

The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) facilitated a two-day Academic Program Improvement (API)-funded Workshop on the Implementation of Harmonized Policies and Procedures related to admission, student progress, and graduation, and the Implementation/ Roll-out of automated academic processes for the University of the P Philippines Visayas (UPV).  The activity took place on September 5 and 6, 2024 at the Little Theater, UPV Iloilo City campus.
