UP Visayas Tacloban College marked its 48th founding anniversary with a series of activities culminating in a virtual program held on 26 May 2021 on the anniversary theme of Dungóg ngan Kinaadman, which means honor and excellence.

As part of the extension service of the UP Visayas University Library, the group held a Community Pantry on 19 May 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the UPV Museum Lobby. The beneficiaries of this activity are janitorial personnel of Pacific Sun Manpower Solution Agency based at the UPV Miagao campus.

Maneuvering amidst the remote learning setup proved to be a challenge for all members of the academic community. But TLRC devoids itself from stagnancy. In celebration of its 24th year of conception, the unit dedicated itself to innovating to pursue its goal of enriching the teaching and learning experience by developing programs that educate and at the same time entertain despite the challenges posed by the online setup.

Dr. Lorena P. Samentar, Assistant Professor 5 from the Division of Biological Sciences, CAS, is selected as one of the Outstanding Graduates, Spring 2021, of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She considers such distinction as an “even greater blessing” together with her being able to accomplish her doctoral studies. Dr. Samentar is graduating with a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Cell and Molecular Biology).

In line with UPV Tacloban College’s 48th Founding Anniversary, the UPVTC Division of Social Sciences and UPVTC Psych Circle organized the 4th Eastern Visayas Psychology Conference with the theme “Psychology, Social Justice, and Collective Action in the Time of COVID-19” last 27-28 May 2021 via Zoom.

UP Visayas, represented by Chancellor Clement C. Camposano, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Office VI (BFAR-6) and NGOs for Fisheries Reform (NFR) on May 11, 2021, on scaling up extension services and technology transfer to support fisherfolks.
