The University of the Philippines Visayas was declared as this year's Best National Statistics Month (NSM) Agency in Western Visayas during the 33rd National Statistics Month Closing and Awarding Ceremony last October 27, 2022, at the RDC Conference Hall, NEDA VI Office, Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City. 

The UPV Healthy Lifestyle and Wellness Committee, in partnership with the Health Services Unit, held a lecture forum titled “Menopause & Andropause: Understanding and Managing the Changes & Transition” on October 26, 2022, with Ma. Gemma Victoria P. Trasporto, M.D., FPOGS as resource speaker. The forum was attended by 130 participants online.

As part of the Healthy Hearts Program, the first batch of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and other medical professionals from the Provinces of Iloilo, Guimaras, Antique, and Iloilo City attended the Training of Trainers on the rollout of the noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) flipchart last 28 Oct. 2022. 

As partners in developing the country’s youth for societal growth, the University of the Philippines Visayas (UP Visayas), through the UPV Action Research Project of the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Iloilo (SDO-Iloilo), through its Youth Formation Division (YFD), with the support from the Iloilo Provincial Government started their youth formation collaboration project with the planning writeshop on the crafting of citizenship education session guide for basic education learners on 25 to 28 October 2022, at Zuri Hotels and Suites in Iloilo City.

The Public Information and Community Affairs Office (PICAO) of the Iloilo Provincial Government (IPG) tapped the University of the Philippines Visayas Information and Publications Office (UPV IPO) and Dame Digital to discuss various topics on social media to its designated information officers (IOs). 

In the pursuit of making UP Visayas (UPV) a safe environment for all genders, the UPV Gender Development Program and the Office of Anti-Sexual Harassment conducted a Gender Awareness and Sensitivity Orientation and Anti-Sexual Harassment Orientation for UPV security guards on October 27-28, 2022 at the Miagao and Iloilo City campuses, respectively.

In celebration of the 2022 Indigenous Peoples Month, UP Visayas experts on indigenous knowledge systems, through the UPV Indigenous People's Resource Center, spoke at various forums and conferences around the country. 

Two guests from the cellphone company Huawei were at the UP Visayas Miagao campus on October 27, 2022, to discuss a possible partnership with the University. Mr. Li Yung and Mr. Chahol were met by Vice Chancellor for Administration, Prof. John Lorenz Belanio and Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension, Dr. Harold Monteclaro. 

The new Director of the Office of Continuing Education and Pahinungod (OCEP) is set on strengthening the University’s public service function.
