The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), UP Visayas, conducted the “CFOS and Friends” fund drive to help the victims of Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses that hit the country.

The Iloilo Provincial Government is gearing to open its COVID-19 Testing Laboratory to be located at the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan, Iloilo. 

The UP Hamili Brotherhood and the UP Hamilia Sisterhood handed over P30,000.00 to Chancellor Clement Camposano on November 18, 2020. The money is being donated in support of the UPV Disaster Response Operation.

The University of the Philippines placed 69th among the top 634 higher educational institutions (HEIs) of Asia in the latest rankings released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

“A research institution responsive to the needs of the nation.” 

UPV continues to provide sustained communication support assistance to the local government of Iloilo City. Said effort extends to the evaluation of existing information, education, and communication (IEC) materials produced and developed by the Iloilo City Communication Team. As recommended by UPV, there is need to conduct information needs assessment to find out existing level of knowledge and health practices of the residents about COVID health and safety protocols, information sources,  and the extent of LGU support. Based on ‘knowledge gaps’ revealed by data results, UPV also recommends communication strategies intended to mobilize the barangay officials, identified health care providers, media institutions, social and religious organizations, and heads and/or representatives of households to take active participation in the implementation of the suggested communication package plan. Specifically, the strategies aim to:

Philip Ian P. Padilla, MD, Ph.D., and Prof. Josephine T. Firmase, faculty members of UP Visayas, College of Arts and Sciences, were the featured speakers at the “DepEd Tayo Iloilo Province” webinar on November 23, 2020. Their timely topic was titled, “Managing Partnership under the New Normal: The 4Cs.” 

The All UP Academic Employees Union-Iloilo Chapter had its General Assembly (GA) last November 17, 2020. The activity was conducted via Zoom and began at 1:00 PM. 

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) will officially launch and inaugurate the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) Visayas Satellite Facility to be streamed on real-time via Zoom and Facebook live on 20 November 2020.
