Prof. Mary Ann T. Gumban, Vice Chancellor for Administration of UP Visayas  was the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the Joint Closing Ceremony of the Candidate Soldier Course of the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division of the Philippine Army. One that caught the attention of many is our UP High School in Iloilo incoming grade 10 student Louie Animas who sold cashew nuts in preparation for remote and blended learning come opening of classes. Pandan was the first municipality in mainland Antique that registered a confirmed case of Covid-19 patient. Unfortunately, it was dubbed as the “ground zero” of the province due to the increasing number of Covid-positive cases. As a fourth-class municipality with limited resources and manpower, it was a huge challenge for the Local Government Unit (LGU) how to fight this health crisis. This led to their call for dagyaw, a term used to refer to the collective effort that brought together Pandananons composed of government agencies, civil society organizations, private businesses, and individuals in addressing the pandemic.
