The Socio-Economic Research and Development Analytics Center-University of the Philippines Visayas (SERDAC-UPV) organized three training-workshops to help researchers broaden their knowledge and appreciation in conducting research using various methods. The training-workshops covered  Value Chain Analysis, Methods of Data Analysis, and Profitability Analysis.

The University of the Philippines Visayas takes earthquake drills seriously. Not only because preparedness often spells the difference between life and death, but more so because, according to PHIVOLCS, there is the West Panay Fault that includes the town of Miagao, where the main campus is located, and the neighboring town of San Joaquin. 

A team of researchers from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS),  UP Visayas trained and shared awareness among fisheries stakeholders in Western Visayas (WV) on the utilization of seafood processing by-products and wastes for economic gain and waste reduction.

A 3.04 meters female dugong (Dugong-dugon) with an estimated weight of about 300 kilograms, was found lifeless along the coast of Brgy. San Rafael, Miagao, Iloilo last March 3, 2023. The University of the Philippines Visayas, in coordination with the LGU responded and provided technical assistance in the assessment of the stranded marine mammal. 

UP Visayas hosted the project briefing for the two-year Cultural Mapping of Panay and Guimaras (CMPG) during the first inception meeting held at the OICA Conference Room of the UPV Museum of Art and Cultural Heritage, Iloilo City campus on March 09, 2023.
