UP Visayas (UPV) welcomed the officials from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on March 31, 2022.
Vice Chancellor for Administration Prof. John Lorenz R. Belanio and UPV-CFOS Dean Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap greeted the visitors upon arrival at the New Administration Building, UPV Miagao campus.
There were 29 visitors composed of DA Undersecretary for Research, Innovation, Training, and Extension Support and concurrent Chief-of-Staff Leocadio S. Sebastian and staff and BFAR regional directors from its various regional offices in the country.
UPV-CFOS facilitated the visit of the guests to look into its various facilities on the campus.
The visitors, divided into two groups, went to the Regional Research Center, Philippine Genome Center-(PGC) Visayas, CFOS Multi-species hatchery complex, seaweed laboratories, and the UPV-Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (TTBDO).
PGC–Visayas program director Assoc. Prof. Victor Marco Emmanuel N. Ferriols familiarized the guests with the different laboratories of PGC-Visayas. Prof. Rex Ferdinand M. Traifalgar, director of the Institute of Aquaculture, UPV-CFOS, presented the CFOS multi-species hatchery (wet and dry laboratories), including the ongoing research projects of the Institute. At the same time, Ms. Milyn C. Leghid and the staff of TTBDO introduced the UPV Fisheries Technology Business Incubation (FTBI) and technologies.
