Last March 25, 2023, the UPV-Sibika Hub held a poster making contest and a forum with the theme "Empowering Citizens Through Civic Education" at the University of the Philippines Visayas Little Theater, Iloilo City campus.
The objective of this event is to encourage young minds to be critical and take an active role in civic engagement. Prof. Pepito R. Fernandez Jr., the Chair of the Civic Education Committee, was the Resource Speaker during the forum. He talked about Sustainability Science and Civic Education: Links and Possibilities.
The poster making contest was participated by the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) and five DepEd schools, namely: Iloilo City National High School (ICNHS), Jaro National High School (JNHS), Jalandoni Memorial National High School (JMNHS), Mandurriao National High School (MNHS), and La Paz National High School (LPNHS).
The students coming from these schools showcased their ability and wit in the arts as a medium for promoting the importance of civic education. At the end of the contest, the top three awardees were:
Champion: Iloilo City National High School
1st Runner-Up: University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo
2nd Runner-Up: Jalandoni Memorial National High School
