The Miagao and Iloilo City campuses of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) are adorned with Christmas lights and decorations as they light up once again for the holiday season.
The Miagao and Iloilo City campuses held their respective illumination ceremonies on Dec. 5 and 6, as part of the Paskua 2024 and 77th UP Presence in Iloilo festivities.
Chancellor Clement Camposano, Paskua 2024 chair Prof. Christopher Honorario, and co-chair Prof. Agustin Huyong led the switching on of Christmas lights at the UPV Miagao campus. Meanwhile, Chancellor Camposano led the switch-on for the Iloilo City campus.
A series of performances from UPV student organizations and select employees gave even more color to the two illumination events.
To foster unity and inclusion, UPV also turned over checks to Mr. Brian Murillo and Mr. Angelito Ninal, Jr., barangay captains of Malagyan and Lumangan, Miagao during the ceremony on Dec. 6 at the Miagao campus. This activity is a tradition at UPV to strengthen relationships and show support for the residents with mutual respect.
The back-to-back illumination ceremonies ushered in the beginning of the holiday season celebration at UPV. A series of events, which will culminate with the Lantern Parade and Christmas Program on Dec. 16, 2024, is slated this month.
The theme for this year’s UPV Paskua celebration is “Pagtuo, Paglaum, Paghigugma: Mga Iwag sang Paskwa.”
